Spacer between Carb and Manifold

Hey everybody! I'm hoping somebody out there can help me out. A little bit about my jeep, I have a 1977 CJ7 with an AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l I6 engine, also the carburetor is a 1BB Carter. I took my carb off the manifold and there was a plastic spacer between the carb and manifold. Well I misplaced the spacer and I can't seem to find one to buy anywhere! My questions are, what is it for? Do I need it? If I do, does anybody know where I can find out?

I wish I could help. Normally a NAPA store will have parts like that. I toss all mine when I put the 2100 on it.

I struggled finding a replacement myself. It is supposedly to act a as an insulator to prevent vapor lock. I ended up getting one for a Ford 2bbl. Most auto stores have a large book that has actual size gaskets and spacers in it and you just have to go through it until you find one that matches up.

I bought a phenolic one a while back off ebay but the guy was pretty proud of it.I wanted it to go on a Dauntless Buick 225 V6 v6 to try to stop it from vapor locking. it didn't seem to help any.

Running without it this time of year should be o.k. until you find another one.

I think I just put in something like " carb spacer"

I found this on ebay...it says its off of a snowmobile but it looks exactly like the spacer. Do you think it'll work?
