I was asked about my stereo setup in my '84 CJ7. Maybe others will also get some inspiration or ideas from my experience. I installed a Sony "mechless" stereo ("mechless" meaning no moving parts like a CD player, etc). It has bluetooth for my phone, Sirius XM, a front USB for a thumb drive, and...

In place of the ineffectual rear seat in my '78 CJ5 I had a HVAC shop knock together a lock box for the back of heavy gauge metal. I bolted it to the floor and used it to support my non tailgated spare tire mount running the bolts through the body tub. I did this on the '77 I had when I was in the service. Then as now it works well and the pair of 6x9 speakers in the front aiming forward pack a punch with the 200w amp I have under the driver's seat.
