So, I have all the parts to reassemble the horn button on my 79. However, the indexed lock-plate fits basically 180° off of where it should be for the horn button/mechanism to work. I’ll provide pictures. But what would be the easiest way to correct this? Rotating steering shaft somehow?

1st pic: where the lockplate fits on the indexed sheering shaft.

2nd pic: the hole with red arrow is where horn button goes thru. So, it’s about 180° off looking my by the 1st pic.

At the steering gear box, you can remove the retaining bolt, slide the steering shaft up off the gear box splined shaft, rotate the shaft where you want it, then slide it back onto the gear box shaft and re-install the retaining both. Doing this allows you to rotate the steering shaft to any position, one tooth or spline at a time on the steering box shaft.

Thanks man!
