My clutch in my ‘80 CJ7 has started to slip pretty bad in 3rd and 4th when putting load on the engine, ie going uphill.

So, I am thinking it is time to replace with new clutch and whatnot. I am also bartering with my neighbor for a T-176 out of a j truck with the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l since he is swapping in a 360.

I know I will need new driveshafts for sure and, obviously, a new clutch, throw out bearing, flywheel and maybe pressure plate.

Is there anything else I need to look at replacing? I will just buy a new tunnel cover from Novak and drill new holes for the shifter.

I will also probably replace the mount bushings for motor mounts and Transmission mounts since when I’m idling at a stop light my Jeep feels like an old Harley.

Any recommendations for clutch? I don’t wheel much and when I do it’s not hard wheeling.

So Novak has new tunnel covers ? Spent some pretty big money with them when I bought parts / pieces for my T-176 . No clutch parts yet though. Didn't see the tunnel covers. Found a used one and prettied it up some. Hopefully it will work.

Make sure the T-176 from the J truck has the correct length input shaft. Can't remember which Jeep truck had a longer input shaft, but one or two models did.

I used a Luk clutch and pressure plate and am happy with it.
 
I have a T-4 in mine now, with a hydraulic clutch, but once I put my new rebuilt engine in I will install a T-176 with a hydraulic clutch again.
