Need a little back ground info if any one can help. Planning a swap from a T-150 to a T-18 . Something I am kind of curious about is how much different the tunnel cover will be. I am guessing that a cover exists as a stock item? How much different are the two, if at all?

If you do swap to the T-18 , I would suggest keeping the Transmission rear mount as low as possible anyway to help minumize any drive line angle issues. I have plenty of room under my home made cover, I do have a body lift, but could get by without it. Have you considered a Transfer Case low gear set prior to the Transmission swap.

The plan, as it stands today, is a rebuilt wide ratio from Novak and a Dana 20 tera low from Herm the OD guy. This will happen as soon as I have finished a few small and not quite finished mods.:D

I am mostly just wondering if the holes line up with the sticks.:D

I did that swap three years ago. I had to cut out holes for the shift levers. Mostly moved them back a little because the tranny is longer. Just added a tin cover over the old holes and screwed it down with some sheet metal screws. There are a lot of things to consider on this swap as I am sure you are aware. I already had a 1" spacer for the skid plate so I didn't change anything there. Mounting the Transfer Case is a little farther back and that wasn't as straight forward as I thought it would be. Had to change the lengths of both drive shafts but the angles were fine. I took it through the Rubicon 2 months after the swap and had no problems, in fact the difference was incredible. I can't think of a better upgrade especially for rock crawling.

IO, I had to make a new plate so all the holes would line up also, using the oem plate as a template. It was quite easy purchasing a small piece of sheet metal and cutting it with tim snips. There might be an issue with the added tranny length and a Transfer Case adapter might be needed, if so a cv joint could help here. Then you will not have to lower the skid plate.

I have some carbon fiber fabric that I have been wanting to play with so maybe when the time comes I will go that way.

There must have been an original cover made OEM? there are a couple of covers on e bay tonight that are claiming to fit both the T-150 and the T-18 . And of course I believe everything I see on E bay.

Another thing to consider is the T-18 I will be using will be a ford and it will need an adapter to fit the TC. The CV joint drive shaft is almost certain as I don't think the rear shaft will be much more than a foot closed.:D

Your T-18 /Dana 20 will be 3-5/8" longer than your current T-150 /Dana 20 setup. The Novak Adapter will rotate your Transfer Case 7°-8° CCW when viewed from the rear. This duplicates the factory adapter that Jeep used in production. You will need to lengthen and rotate the mounting shaft for your Transfer Case shifter. It should locate it where it is now and your present cover will work fine. Jeep shimmed the skid plate down 7/8" in production. The AA unit duplicates the clocking like your T-150 . Going from a 3.0/2.02 combo to a 6.32/3.15 combo, you will be impressed.
