T150 & D20 Best rebuild kit

I've seen prices for the T-150 kit from $80 to $130. Any brands to avoid? I heard one "premium" kit was just a Crown kit with a copy of the service manual pages.

I would avoid kits from Crown and Omix. I've never used any of their Transmission or tcase rebuild kits, but all their other parts seem to be hit or miss for quality and correctness & the Transmission isn't something I'd want to have to go back in.

I would try to stick with a kit that uses brand name bearings (Timken, Koyo, and Nachi are good ones) bearings. In my experience, Novak has good customer service and support and typically use Nachi bearings. Although the 20mm T-18 input bearing they sent me was a chinese bearing...Apparently there aren't options for that particular bearing.

X3 on Novak. If you are pulling the Dana 20 might as well twin stick it at the same time. Not much $$$ for lots of fun. I did have to trim my Transfer Case hole a bit to get the 2nd stick to clear though.

I've some good pictures of where you will need to grind in the case and pics of the rail that needs grinding. If it sounds like too much of a hassle,,, its really not hard. I'll post them if needed. Also, Remove the "pills" thats the only way to fully utilize the twin set up.

I just remembered the grinding is only needed for the teralow gears. But do remove the "pills".

So I paid the extra money for the Novak kit. I googled the part number on the box, it's a Transparts kit that's $99 on Amazon :-(
They did throw in a copy of the Transmission section from the AMC service manual, which is available about a zillion places on the internet.
