t176 & Pennzoil synchromesh
I'm not sure about the synchromesh but definitely get rid of the gl5 and try and find gl4. I was using Gl5 in my T-176 and it shifted hard. I also was using gl5 in the Transfer Case Dana 300 and it was so hard to shift I thought I was going to break the shifter off. I switched to gl4 and after about 50 miles the shifting got alot better. And the Transfer Case slips in and out of gears nice and easy. From what I've learned on this sit is the gl5 has additives that are hard on the synchronizers. It may be easier to find pennzoil Synchromesh. It took me a while to find gl4. I found it at tractor supply store. I just bought a 5 gal can and used a lub pump. Also The more I drove it the better it shifted.Anyone using Pennzoil Synchromesh in their T-176 . Mine is running Stalube GL5 and I'm not real happy with shifts. Just bought the jeep so not sure what to put in. Thanks
