'79 Cj5, 258 with Howell Fuel injection kit, T18 with dana 20 Tcase, dana 30 front with Detroit locker, AMC 20 rear with LSD and one piece shafts, Warn 8k winch, 1" body lift, 2" suspension lift, 33 tires
I was wondering if the jeep version of the T-18 has a torque arm? My running gear is original (from what I know) and I'm wondering if it has a torque arm and where it mounts on the skid plate. Pics would be super helpful. Mine is a 79cj5 with AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l and Dana 20

Yes, it has a torque arm. Pic of the one I Hack Fab'd up for my 76 CJ5 with Ford T-18 . This one closely models what the OEM T-18 one was on my CJ.

For some reason I cannot see the pic. I can use the OEM skid correct?

All CJs came from the factory with an enforcement plate (torque arm), at least 79 and down, possibly the newer CJ did as well. If you don’t have one someone removed it at some point.

You can easily make one or buy one from J&W wrecking yard for around $40 shipped.

Side note: 71 and down had the torque arm off the Transfer Case .

Have you had any work done by JW jeep? Also, why would someone remove it?

Why would I know why someone would remove your torque arm? If it isn’t there someone removed it. My best guess would be they couldn’t find the 2 bushings that go with it and just decide to go without, or maybe the arm was bent from torque and chose not to repair it and went without.

Yes, I have worked with JW and purchased a torque arm last month for a customer’s jeep.

No no that makes sense. I was just unsure if maybe there was an advantage to removing it or something like that. Posi, I also sent you a PM

Not sure what the deal is with this forum and Tapatalk, but the app won't show a lot of pics for some reason. Click on the 3 dots in the top right corner and click Web View. That will take you to the web view of the thread and usually shows the pics.

The torque arm bolts to the Transmission /tcase adapter and through an existing hole in the skid plate.

Got your PM Jake and replied.

The pic I posted is just a receipt for a torque arm purchased last month from JW.

As JP mentioned, here is a hole and some cases more then one in the skid plate. You will need a torque arm stud and 2 bushings as well.

Crown sell the stud and bushings.

You can make a t'arm with some 1/2" all-thread. ;)
The bushings are easy to find.
