TC linkage slop

When I try to change into 4high or low there is almost no resistance at the shifter. It's almost like its completely disconnected. If I pop it hard torward the dash it finally shifts into to 4 high. I believe i have a dana 200. My question is should I replace the worn out linkage or convert it to a 2 peice shifter?

have somone shift it (while not running) and crawl underneith and watch what its doing. if the shifter is wore out then twin stick it!
