temp gauge

is there another location for adding a mechanical temp gauge on 84 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l ? when i got my new jewel for some reason lots of things were missing. i did find a coolant port on the LR top of the head but way too small for any mechanical probe ive come acrossed. thanks.

I have heard of that issue before with guys changing out temp gauges. So there is a solution, how about the intake manifold?

Look on the right side of the engine down low there is a drain plug that should work.

mine came with an aftermarket plugged into a port on the drivers side.
