Hello, I would like to ask if there is anyone on this site that would know
where the water temp. sender was located on a 1971 CJ5 w/ Dauntless Buick 225 V6 engine.
My 1969 has it by the thermostat housing in front w/ the heater hose connected to elbow coming out of right rear of manifold.It looks as thou my '71 sender is (was) mounted to the hole in the rear of manifold .That is where the wire for temp is at.Recently acquired this jeep and trying to put things in the correct location.I realize it will work in alternate loc. put I am going for original.
I have looked at pics on net w/o any thing concrete.thanks mike

The 69 and 71 V6 temp sending unit should be mounted on the left rear of the intake manifold. Should be a single wire to the instrument cluster.

left = driver side.

Posi, thanks for confirming the location.MY '69 does have the sender in front with the heater hose coming out the rear.looks o.e. as I have seen others that way.But as you say it appears they changed things in later years. Got it installed with a WORKING temp gauge.Ya ! now on to the infamous jeep fuel gauge. mike

Good on you.

amazing how simple these Jeeps are yet how the the gauges dont seem to function great work. :chug:
