Texas Guys!?!?!

Texas Guys!?!?!
There is an 2500 acre OHV park less than an hour from my house, its very convenient. I wanting to journey to some other parks though soon.

The National Parks are great. National Forests are even better, especially in Colorado. I spent 10 years there, running may of the Jeep trail or two tracks as we called them as the Communications Unit Leader for National and Local fire team. I really like Big Bend. There is a Quick Silver Mine there that was abandon back around WWII. Kind of neat to go see. Miles and Miles of trails though. Padre Island is tricky. Sand is not like any other surface you might wheel on. Just SW of San Antonio we have what we call "Sugar Sand". It's because it is so fine. Worse than regular sand to drive on. So you need some special equipment to do the Padre Island run. You don't want to get stuck there. Before you know it the tide will come up and there goes the Jeep. But it is a beautiful undisturbed wilderness.

I'm just south of Austin but cj has al long way to go

Garland Tx and a place in Dodd city.

In Rockwall here, real close to Sachse and Garland. I would love to do some runs with a bunch of CJ guys. LSJC is a good club with good folks but it is mostly TJ's and JK's. There are a couple of regulars that run CJ's and there's one built Scambler.

Yeah man a CJ run would be cool, the park outside of Bridgeport or Mineola (Barnwell) wouldn't be too far of a hike for you DFW guys. It would a pretty good ways for the South Texas guys though.

I live in the Clear Lake area just south of Houston. Id be interested in a Texas meet up!

Lol I hear ya.. I have a 7 week old! Getting away for a few days would be difficult. My jeep should be ready for something in the spring. By then I should be allowed a couple days of play time. My FIL might have his CJ7 assembled by then as well. I've never been to Barnwell Mtn. or any other park in TX..

Barnwell is the only one I've been to so far its fun and its convenient for me with plenty of trails that challenge my CJ. I want to hit up some other parks around the state, but I just haven't had time yet.

You guys crack me up. You should have so much energy that you could take care of the kids and do two or three Jeep rides before sleeping. Me, I would need a nap half way through, :p and be home by 5 to get to bed by 7. :D That's why I'm building a truck, so that I can throw my portable hammock in the back. ;)

I still have the energy the problem is the Momma gets mad if I'm gone "playing" too long.

Would any of you guys be interested in a run through the mountains in Arkansas? I have a good GPS track that runs on forest service roads and runs all the way to the Buffalo river in the Ozarks. Lots of nice scenery and about 7 river crossings to keep things interesting.

Lmao man I'm 30 going on 60! I might be able to stay up a little later but not much! That CJ truck would come in handy on a trip to Big Bend! I'd like to make a trip to Big Bend before making the slightly longer haul to Colorado.

I would depending on time frame. I need a decent amount of notice to get time off from work and my CJ has a long way to go but do have a functional WJ

Id be interested in making some trips pending my war departments approval and lining up with my work schedule.

It sounds like a good time my local JC did:
K-Trail, Ozark Overland Trail (AKA High Water Mark), and several more I unfortunately didnt get to go on any them, but the videos and pictures they took made me wish I couldve gone.

Big Bend is a blast. You need several days to do all of the trails. The have a lodge there for a place to stay or a couple of camp grounds. Here's a picture the last time I did it.

Now you guys are talking about some fun areas. I've been to Big Bend several times with my jeep on those trails. Been to the Buffalo River area with my jeep once and have been canoeing for several days at a time 3 different times on the Buffalo. Both areas are very beautiful. I would like to go with some jeep guys. That would be a whole different experience
