OK, bought a 1983 CJ7 , been working on it...

Decided to change the tranny fluid and filter.... yuk..... #pic 1,2,3
The dip stick is out of a Ford???

and the tip of the original was in the tranny pan????.... #4 pic

Anyone have the length of a original TF999 dip stick, with markings, maybe this Ford dip stick will work....

I'll get it for you but I'm at work till 7:00 pm. If no one else responds look for a pic with the measurement around 8:00 pm
 
TF 999 is a Chrysler Transmission , light duty Torque Flight 999/904(older version) it has the lower first gear in it, not positive but you should be able to hit up any junk yard with older Dodge trucks and get a dip stick. The dealer still sells them and also Lokar makes a braided steel one.
***** Torque Flight transmissions require that the kick down linkage be attached and properly adjusted, failure to do so will burn it up in about 200 miles***** (it will think it is still in park and not apply enough fluid pressure to the clutch packs inside) ask me how I know :cool: BTW your filter and pan look pretty clean as long as the fluid didnt smell burnt thats probably a good tranny, by the time I crack several of mine open they where way worse

I am going to try and braze the tip of the original dip stick to the Ford dip stick at the correct length, If this doesn't work out I will be contacting you about the spare one you have:)
