Will do, Sir - but keep in mind this is going to be a quick and dirty deal to just close the hole. It’s also the practice piece so when I do the big deal fancy one I hopefully will have worked thru any troubles....... but the general process should be the same. For these, the attachment / trim ring will be plastic - sort of a functional prototype as it were. I drew cut lines and stitch lines on the back of each piece - here’s one of the sides cut and ready for sewing

I was going to do an “accordion “ style boot, but quickly decided to just do a simple one that’s tall enough to scrunch down to give room to shift. I cut the bottoms to be a bit longer and wider than the cutout in the cover plate. I made that as well, and the openings are smaller than factory - so smaller boots will work. Here are the stitching lines

As for the opening at the top - I took the circumference of the shift lever, worked back to a radius, added two thickness of the vinyl, then went back to a circumference, divided by 4, and that was the width I used between stick lines at the top.

This is the bottom “flange” that will be bonded to the trim ring prior to attachment.

I did buy enough vinyl so that when it comes time for the good ones, I’ll have plenty to work with.

Thanks. Your “quick and dirty” will end up better than any final product I make. So I appreciate the walk through.

Started stitching a side to an end piece......

Keep in mind since the curves of the two pieces aren’t the same, they won’t line up exactly......... realign as you go.....

I have three pieces together at this point - two more lines of stitching and the Transfer Case boot will be ready to be turned right side out and a base cut and fitted to it

Flip it inside out! Come on. I am impatient. [emoji6]

Looking great

Ha - Funny..... I just this second finished the last edge...... unfortunately I’m not going to sew the loose edges either side of the seam so it ain’t gonna lie flat - but flat enough [emoji16]

I'll sew the mitred corners together but for now, here's what I have...

Man, I hate sewing by hand. Found a sewing machine on Craigslist for cheap and almost bought it just for this. Stubbornness won out...

Very nice. Did you sew the part at the top that is rolled in on itself or just tuck it inside itself? I hope that makes sense.

Makes perfect sense..... when I turned it right side out I started at the bottom, so the top is still just tucked in, but I will run a stitch around the top to keep it in place.
