The Jeep Wave

The Jeep Wave
The one and only Real Jeep the CJ.:patriot:
Not quite. You forgot the MB. The CJ1 was a modified MB and the CJ2 "civilianized" that. However, both versions were given the name Jeep and carried that legacy until Chrysler started muddying history and brainwashing kids.

It's just a typical hello wave to anyone driving a Jeep, whether you know them or not. Now I don't mean any Jeep brand vehicle, I mean the actual Jeep vehicle. (CJ/MB any
version) It's been around for decades. It's kind of like the motorcycle wave but thats a more generic wave for just cycles in general.

Alive and well in Ca.

Sadly, it's dying in many parts of the US, as there becomes fewer and fewer Jeeps left on the road.

I wave at all jeeps over here and Its sad that more people don't wave back, they give me the do I know you look.

I'm happy to report the wave is alive here in upstate NY. I have a background riding Harley Davidson bikes, so I'm familiar with the wave and acknowledgment while out on the friendly road. This weekend was my first time in my new/old Jeep out on the road. It was nice that the first Jeep that I passed was a newer model wrangler and the dude gave me a nice wave. It's good to be part of the club!

Chill :chug:

He probably didn't know it was a Jeep thing and he probably just liked your Jeep.

Everyone in a CJ/YJ/etc waves in East County San Diego. It's pretty awesome.

Around here it's just Jeeps, not Wranglers. Just like it's always been. If a Wrangler waves it's cause they know you. Which is fine with me (and how it should be).

Here in PA it is mixed. In the mid 90s when I got my first jeep there was no question. You waved - they waved. My stand point w/ 4 doors is - can't we all just get along? Change is going to happen. It is our job to educate those who are ignorant - DON"T STOP WAVING.:chug:

:agree: I wave at them all, some wave back some just don't understand yet.

In northeast PA the jeep wave started to dwindle when the TJ came on the market. JKers don't wave. At least not where I am. I think at this point Dodge has turned jeep into a status symbol.

That would be Chrysler, not Dodge, but I think, or would at least hope that folks are starting to realize those Tj's and jk's, and yj's, abcj's etc. are not Jeeps. they are wranglers, a totally different vehicle. They are merely made by a company called Jeep but they aren't the actual vehicle with Jeep for it's name, and what the Jeep wave is about.

I could not say it any better :notworthy:

Ah, sorry, i thought Dodge and Chrysler were the same entity. Anyway, change happens. Every manufacturer that's purchased the Jeep brand has left their mark, good or bad. Look at AMC (my own beloved CJ), they were what frankenstein was to the medical world. LOL. I think the whole point of the jeep wave is the camaraderie, if another jeeper saw you broke down on the side of the road they'd stop and help reassemble your clutch linkage with baling wire and bubble gum. You don't see that anymore. At least I don't. I think jeep has been swallowed up by the money hungry. She's not about true utility anymore. She's about who can afford a $40,000 toy. Those people don't know about the wave, and when they see it they scoff.

I wave. And if a fellow jeeper waves to me, no matter what incarnation their driving, I'll wave back. Because that means they're good people.

Well they are... sort of. Chrysler is the parent company of Dodge, Plymouth, and Jeep (Plymouth might now be defunct).
I hear what your saying, and not to be a dbag about it, but if you don't include the wave to cherokee's, liberty's, honcho's, commando's, etc, then your logic is flawed. Your perception of the wave is to the company and since they're all produced by a company who was / is called the Jeep Corporation they should all be included.
When in reality the wave has always been between Jeeps not vehicles produced by the Jeep company. The name has become so generic that people don't realize that there is only one vehicle given the model name of Jeep, and that's the MB and pedigree lineage in the civilian world, the CJ versions.
The CJ, hence The Jeep, was ended in 1986 with it official announcement made on Nov. 29th, 1985 about the end of this era. Since a void would be left in the AMC / Jeep lineup, they (same company) introduced a new vehicle called the Wrangler. This was not any continuation of the same vehicle. Even the first model was way different than a Jeep with the exception of the engine, which btw was used by some of AMC's cars as well.

Point is, thinking the Wranglers are the same (or from the same lineage) as the Jeep CJ's is like saying the Dodge Ram and the Dodge Dakota are the same since they're both Dodge's and both pickups.

Point taken

I agree with you PaRenegade - somewhat. Todays Jeep is a far cry from it's military roots but you cannot say that the Wrangler was a completely different vehicle. Leaf spring suspension, fold down windshield, AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l in-line six all these things and many more came from the Jeep heritage. In God We Trust is still on the dollar bill in your pocket. Just because it is not acknowledged does not mean that those are not the true American roots.
