Throbbing, pulsing clutch pedal

Recently I replaced the clutch on my CJ7 . Also replaced rear drive shaft and u-joints and Transmission mount. Everything seems to be working very well, but when the engine is running and I begin to push on the clutch pedal and the throw out bearing gently engages the pressure plate I get a throbbing/pulsing in the pedal. Once I fully engage or fully release the clutch it goes away. Wasn't there before. Any ideas?

You did have the flywheel resurfaced right?

No. But the pulse wasn't there before.

Howdy neighbor sounds to me that if you replaced the clutch that one of the fingers on the pressure plate is slightly higher than the others and thats causing the pulsing as it rotates past the clutch fork, hard to say tho

Bent diaphragm fingers, it's easy to do when installing the Transmission . That's why I prefer the 3 finger type. But that's just me.

I think you're right. I thought the same thing. In thinking about what could cause this, that is the ONLY thing that makes sense. I'm not going to worry about it and will hope that as the clutch gets broken in the pulsing will subside.

I concur with either bent or cracked/broken 'fingers' on the diaphragm clutch pressure plate.
Does the tranny shift OK or is the shifter need'n more effort now?
Who's clutch is this?

The tranny shifts fine. Very smooth. No other issues at all. It was a LuK clutch.

I had 2 Borg & Beck fail like that.
Have a Luk in my Jeep now, and has been fine for many years...........

One thing I would suggest. Make the jeep safe and all that. Start it up crawl under her and lay your hand on the shift fork. If it is pulsing with the clutch engaged, even only a tiny amount your throw out bearing it still touching the clutch fingers. back it off until it no longer pulses.

HH has a very good point.
How much pedal freeplay do you have? You need to measure this, and don't guess. You want 1-1 1/4". No more-no less.....

I had a girl friend once who told me her clutch was throbbing or maybe she said it was pulsating, nevertheless, it turned out to be the brake pedal.
