To much space between hanger and leaf???

To much space between hanger and leaf???
khass0410, I'm not saying that the spring is wrong, but it is not a direct bolt on. Maybe RC specifies special bushings or something? I just checked the site and you can't even do a search!

I'll work on it in the AM - I'm dead!

I still would never use a spring like that...

Real quick before I hit the hay, is the shackle side if the spring cut down the same way or it is full width?

Ok, thanks here are some more pictures, If they are the wrong ones hopefully Morris 4x4 will work with me considering I bought them back in March. I guess I shall start removing them for now.

Thank again. :chug:

It looks like the wrong bushings to me. Most of the polly bushings have a flange that would make them the right width. Here''s a link to a pic of what I'm saying. Frame Shackle Bushings, Rear DAY-KJ02006BK
I do agree that the springs being cut down like that doesn't seem right. I'm not up on your year cj though.

:)Thats the military wrap spring that is cut down on the sides..............not uncommon to see that since it just floats anyway..........Not to say that the bushing is correct though..........should be tight.

Yea, I didn't want to buy rough country I actually wanted to go with BDS So if it's not exactly right it will be ok because in about a a year and a half I plan on getting bds. I tightened up the space with one thick washer which surprisingly I think that's how my old leafs were also. I really don't want to deal w/ rough country either they have absolutely horrible customer service.

Thank Yall :chug:

Isnt that cut down area just what the manufacturer calls a "tapered spring eye"?

I might have missed it, but how wide are your shackles/perches. Wondering if you have a 76 there; didnt they take the wider springs?

EDIT: Does the shackle end look ok to you guys? I don't see the big gap and it doesnt look like he has them cranked down to take up the space? Maybe Old Dog was right and they didn't install the right bushings with those tapered spring eyes.

GEEZ, Im hung over. The shackles do look like he cranked them down to take up the space.

The shim goes with the thicker part facing forward. This will lift the front of the axle or pinion up, pointing it towards the driveshaft to hopefully give you the correct angle.

Were the bushings installed in the springs already? Cant tell from the pictures.

Yea, the bushings were already in the springs. I have the big part of the shim towards the shackle and the small part towards the perch...I had the other way but it looked way off to me + the skids would not fit with them that way for some reason.

Im not sure what you mean by skids? Do you mean the spring plate; the part that the u bolts go through and it has the shock mount on one side?

You actually may be right with the thick part to the back.

My bad.

Im running a diff. type of DS setup.

I am quite suprised to see seven heavy duty leafs in that spring pack for a vehicle that is as light as the '75 CJ5 .
