Transfercase-2 shifters

I recently purchased a 73 CJ5 from a lady who's husband past away and she knew nothing about the Jeep.

There is 2 shifter levers for the Transfer Case . Does any one know the shifting sequence for these?

If you have twin shifters, it could be different depending on your setup. I'm assuming you probably have a T-15 Dana 20 based on you having a 73. If they did not remove the internal pills it should be the same as stock for the most part, you just have the ability to control the front and rear independently. If they removed the pills you have a lot more options available, but be careful as you could achieve a front rear high low situation that will bomb your tranny.

Someone else has the exact combinations as they have been posted before. The twin shifter gives you a lot more flexibility when offloading.

I have a twin stick 20 in my 74

The right stick is for the front axle
forward position is L
middle N
rear position is H

The left stick is for the rear axle
forward position is L
middle N
rear position is H

For every day driving you want the left stick in the rear position and the right stick in the middle

As was stated, becareful if the lockout has been removed.

As stated above, all true for Dana 20 Transfer Case (I have one personally as well, and it's twin sticked too).

Check to ensure what Transfer Case you actually have as things change in these jeeps

Thanks. It looks like this Jeep actually has a Dana 18 even though its a 73. It also looks like it has an Overdrive on it but doesn't look hooked up. I would assume it would have to have some sort of engagement for the Overdrive . Looks like I still have some figuring out to do.

I would be interested to see photos and to know what Transmission you have in then.

If you have an 18 your rear axle will be offset, not centered. There was a pto accessory adapter years ago for the Dana 20 .
