That doesn't sound like a T-176 . They have aluminum cases.Thanks for the information I believe that have the t 176 because when I checked oil level the shift was just above the level hole in the case, also the case was cast iron. I bought the jeep at my camp and left it there because its not road worthy yet. The camp is 125 miles away and I cant get id numbers off the case to id for sure. untill I go back up. I left food in the jeep and hope the bears dont get at the seats. Thanks again Jack D. aka davenportknives.com
What year is your jeep? I know the T-18 , T-15 and T-150 have cast iron cases, but the 15 and AMC 150 are 3 speeds.
If you have a T-18 call yourself really lucky!
Edit.....
I re-read your post. If your Jeep is an 84, it could only have a T-18 if someone did the swap because they stopped using them in 1980.
