Kind of disappointed but then again I might not have to be depending on everyones thoughts of the pics I took. Please point out anything and everything I need to have taken care of. I am working on it I have ordered all new bushings and a new speedometer cable next probably a wiring harness which is not seen in these pics.

Thanks Guys

Seals are seeping a little on the tcase but if that was mine I wouldn't sweat it too much.

Not sure what that piece of metal strap is on the rear spring; looks like metal banding strap. Id cut it off if.

Id bet if you pulled the rear drive shaft the Ujoints would be "notchy". Just guessing due to the rust. Pinion angle vs tcase angle looks a little off but mine was way off from the factory and didn't vibrate; I wouldn't worry about it unless you feel vibration.

In a nutshell Id check the ujoints and the breathers on the tcase and diffs and change the seals when I was in there for something else or if it starts leaking worse.

So maybe I could go buy a differential rebuild kit? Some new Ujoints and not sure what the breather is...I appreciate the advice. I wish I would have seen the message earlier cause I just put in an order to JC Whitney ill check with O'reilys Auto Parts tomorrow. If you might take a look at this pic if you look up on the side of the motor theres a little part that looks like maybe hoses attach to it do you know what this is?

That loose piece of wiring in pic #4 may get damaged by FOD, best loom it and tie it to the frame harness soonest.

Yea, took care of that one last night, that wire went from a toggle switch to the front kc lights. Thank you

So that plastic deal with three ports on it appears to be a thermo switch.

Typically you'll have vacuum coming in one side, and at a certain temp the switch open/closes and applies/removes vacuum from some other component. Its not uncommon to find them like you have; not attached. Its not a very reliable system. Since you aren't complaining of a driveability issue, I would forget about it.

I would not suggest a differential rebuild kit. That comes with bearings and all sorts of stuff. If youre jeep sat around for a long time, the seals tend to dry up. You start driving it and a little oil seaps past them. Sometimes more use will soften them up and they stop seaping, sometimes not. Again, not something I would be terribly concerned about. It will take a long, long time to cause a low oil level. Just confirm that the oil levels are correct. This issue will not leave you stranded.

There are breathers located on your differentials and tcase. Pressure gets built up in the cases due to heat and aeration of the oil. When they are plugged, they can cause seals and gaskets to seap as the pressure has to get out somehow. Generally they have a little cap over them and are located high up on the case. I usually just rotate the cap around and some dirt and oil residue will fall out. You can pull them out and blow through them to confirm they arent clogged.

I do suggest you unbolt the driveline and move the ujoint around and see how it feels. If they go, you either limp home in 4x4 with the rear ds out, or you are stranded.

Cool, I will not do the rebuild kit but might go ahead and change the oil out. I figure I will probably go ahead and purchase a new ujoint also since I will be checking it all. If it stops raining I think I am going to pressure was the bottom of the jeep and put some engine cleaner down there to remove all the junk.

I would also change the butt connector to something a little more water proof copper wires don't like to be wet.

Yea, I am wanting to buy a painless wiring harness but geeeez there high dollar. So been watching ebay and craigslist just maybe one will pop up for a good price. Just put the soft top windows and doors back on went out and bought 2 new ujoints, engine cleaner, and diff. oil. Now probably the only one in Texas saying this but I just want the rain to go away for a couple hours so I can try and have some fun with it.
