First off, I am pretty new to Jeeps and working on vehicles in general. I have been wanting to learn more about cars and my wife mentioned she has always wanted a jeep. A few weeks later a family friend is getting rid of one and the next thing I know I have a 84' CJ7 . It needs some work, as I dive into it I find more and more wires and lines that are unplugged.

The latest one was this line that is near the Transfer Case (I believe that's right based off a quick google search). I have been trying to search and find where this thing goes, but no luck. Any help would be much appreciated!

What engine tranny and transfer do you have? I have an 81 CJ7 with a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l inline 6 with the T-176 tranny and Dana 300 transfer. I have a wiring diagram that I can give you a pic of of you want.

Welcome to the forum, I am pretty sure that is what sends the signal to the instrument cluster that that the Transfer Case is in 4wd. /QUOTE]

That's what I was thinking too. OP, it plugs in just behind the where the tcase shifter attaches to the tcase.

OP said 'air line' in his post title.
The only 'air line' on a D/300 is the breather line in the far left of the 1st picture.
There's breather lines for the axles and some jeep trannys also.
The wire with the round terminal cover is the 4WD indicator lead that goes to the speedo cluster.

And here it is - although my connector is a wee bit different it still plugs in the same location
