What engine tranny and transfer do you have? I have an 81 CJ7 with a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l inline 6 with the T-176 tranny and Dana 300 transfer. I have a wiring diagram that I can give you a pic of of you want.

Welcome to the forum, I am pretty sure that is what sends the signal to the instrument cluster that that the t-case is in 4wd. You can get a lot more help from getting a wiring schematic from these guys, although there are cheaper versions available:https://colorwiringdiagrams.com/

Thank you! I will definitely check that out.

That's what I was thinking too. OP, it plugs in just behind the where the tcase shifter attaches to the tcase.

OP said 'air line' in his post title.
The only 'air line' on a D/300 is the breather line in the far left of the 1st picture.
There's breather lines for the axles and some jeep trannys also.
The wire with the round terminal cover is the 4WD indicator lead that goes to the speedo cluster.
