Build Thread Vader , A multi year Cj7
I've been running the 32 in comforsers on my CJ7 for almost 3 years and close to 10k miles. I like the ride and the look, just make sure the directional tread is forward otherwise you can't even hear yourself think above 35 mph.

Checking my memory again. Are these the ones you bought after you had the dry rotted ones start coming apart? I think I remember you posting about it. They were marked left and right so it's up to me not to screw them up putting them on. 😁 Good to hear you've had good results with them.

Yes you are correct, my previous tread split apart while my jeep was parked in my garage thankfully not while I drove.
I had the lettering put inwards so the blackwall is out but basically make the aggressive tread go forward.

One step forward and one step back. Bleeding the brakes and just couldn't stop getting bubbles. I could see the new fluid coming in so it looks like it's time for a master cylinder. I have a lot of little stuff to do to get it ready for inspection. The new tires look good though.

Well this first installment is just about getting it up and running and safe. Then the upgrades will follow.

Wow it's been quite a while. Finally getting back to this project. Did a few things In between the last update but I'm really hoping to spend some time getting this up and running so I can enjoy it a bit.

In order to do that I have to get the timing to advance like it should. I could've tried a new vaccum advance for the old distributor but what fun would that be? H.E.I. upgrade started.

Also been trying to get the brakes better. New master cylinder and a few other things but still need bled. Feels good to get back at it. Hoping to get her ready to at least be roadworthy by Christmas.

Agreed. Plus I need to work on the '80 so I gotta get this one up and running so the '80 can have some extended downtime. Probably hit the garage a little tonight.

Sounds nice but I'm thankful one piece axles are the only thing I have in common with that list. I don't need any more work than I have already.

Ok I have all my plug wires run and everything looks good. Number #1 is right where my mark is and so is the vaccum advance. Now here's where I get nervous. I'm not very good with electrical stuff. Sorry you'll have to click links to see the pics , I'm going to figure that out soon too. I refuse to pay a monthly fee for Photobucket.

First pic is showing a solid red wire coming from my fuse box into the engine compartment. I was thinking this is the wire I should be using to power the HEI. At the fuse panel it has a wire coming off it for a clock for a stereo. To me this means it's constantly "Hot". Is the distributor wired with voltage going to it 24/7? I'd think this is a key on only thing.

Now that red wire goes along the firewall to the other side of the engine in some split loom and leads up to the distributor. I believe there's a resistor wire that it runs to before the distributor. It's the large red one at the bottom of the split loom.

Here you can see all the wires taped up that went to the coil of the old set up. Pretty simple withe the green-green and red-red. Am I supposed to run the heavier gauge red wire to the distributor along with the smaller red wire right to the coil? I am electrical challenged , please help. 😂

The routing of the plug wires isn't to bad but their all a little longer than I wanted. I don't think I'll buy anymore generic one size fits all sets. Next time around I'll take the extra time and make my own. Theses will relax after a bit and the headers and steering shaft are all a little bit too close for comfort in my eyes.

Got the answers I needed in the forum. Hoping to get her wired up tonight. If so I'll put up a video.

I really like the MSD wires, great quality and cut to required length, not cheap but I don't think that bad either

I do as well and that little tool they give you is awesome, no extra long universal wires for me

Well I think I'm one tooth off. Ran out of time last night since I promised Vicki that I'd stay out for the trick or treating. Next three days I work 7-7 and my daughter's 21st birthday is this weekend so hopefully I can get back to it early next week.
