Hey jeepers, I am trying to find out the purpose of a particular part of my weber(i think) carby. It was rusted out on the 250 crossflow that lives under the hood of my '58 willys, and had stainless braided hoses running to and from it. The part was listed as a water inlet/outlet and I don't understand why it is attached to the carby and if the engine can/will operate without it?
I would appreciate if someone can help educate me so I can get an ol' willy back in the game.

Choke. Hot water = warm engine = no choke needed.

Thanks hedgehog. Will the engine operate without it? Do I need to plug/loop hose outlets?

Depends on your out look on automatic chokes. Some folks like'em, some folks will never trust'em. But your engine will never run properly without a choke of some sort ... automatic or manual.

Honestly that's about the best I can do for you, I really don't know Weber Carbs. But it has been my experience that water goes to the carb to help the choke operate, after that I'm completely guessing.
