Weber 32/36 on 1984 4 Cylinder

Got the complete kit for my 84 4-cylinder. Go figure the instructions are vague at best. The problem is that when i hooked up throttle cable, there is alot of play. So much so that it it doesn't move the linkage at all. Been searching around the internet for pictures but without any luck. Only pics found are of a different cable bracket than the one in my kit. does anyone have this setup and/or have a solution? Thanks

Not the most professional solution, but was just meant to be temporary fix that worked so well never changed it.

Just need to shorten the cable. I did this on the pedal side.

Took a machine screw and drilled a hole in it about midway that was just big enough to fit the cable. Cut the "barrel" off the end and slide the cable through the screw, with a nut on either side. Tightened the nuts against each other trapping the cable. Adjusted the length to what felt good on pedal pressure before tightening.

Worked well for 3 years before frame off.

Alternative is to measure for length you need and try to find a new cable.

I've got that same rig. Been more than 20 years that I put the Webber on with original cable, just don't remember cutting the cable, but if I did it was at the pedal, but it sure looks original at the pedal now. Post up a picture of the cable end at the pedal and I will compare to mine, and let you know

That's kinda what I have in the works. Actually ordered a new cable too. The original one seemed a bit stiff bordering on brittle. Thanks

I installed this carb years ago to my AMC 150 . I made a bracket to make the current cable work. But the carb is junk. It always stalled on me on inclines out on the trails and the auto choke is a joke. I would love to install another two barrel carb but just can't find any that will fit on my 4 banger. Hope you have better luck...

This is the bracket to add about 2 inches to the distance to carb linkage.
