hi to all...
Any welder in this forum?
i have a simple question , here we go ..
with 100 AMP ARC WELDING MACHINE can I weld few plate maybe 1/4inch for support my floor's on the jeep??
or 100 amp is to small?? ..
thankx

Do you have a pic of the damaged areas? And how good is the welder doing the work?
And 1/4" is a bit big for both the welder and the repair.... 1/8" or 3/16" would be better suited for both the repair and the welder (assuming that the repair is on the frame, and not the body, of course)

no the damage is the center support where the rubber bushing are and the damage is the body not the frame

Yea, You'll have a very hard time trying to weld the body with an ARC welder. See if you can dig up a MIG welder to weld that up.
Is the body still on the chassis?

1/4" plate is very thich. 14 or 16 (I think) gauge steel is about right for replacing the floor pan sections.

That's called "Up-Armor" to help defeat those pesky landmines.;)

Arc would be overkill, use a good mig machine. if welding in the jeep while outdoors use a flux core with reversed polarity from the gas set up. I think the gauge will be 14 for the metal but if the damage is not rust, such as a crack you can just run a grinder down the crack and run a bead. if it is a bigger problem here is a place that sells metal of the original gauge. And remember 3/4 of a weld is in the prep work.

better quality than the Chinese made junk most sell

1/4" plate is to thick for welding to sheetmetal. It will cause extra stress on the sheetmetal at the weld point and cause premature failure.
