As some of you may know, I'm partially in the process of building a CJ7 with a 4bt Cummins diesel. (Well I have a frame and that's it) but I know it's down the road but I want to make this thing as unique as it could be, which means using a new Mopar color. I was thinking among these lines; Silver- who doesn't love silver?! Load it down with metallic and make the muscle car guys cry because they're cute little toy isn't as shiny. Dozer yellow- one of the sweetest colors from Mopar (in my opinion) It screams "I'm a rugged color" and black accents make it look perfect. Gecko green- it's not booger green as some of you may know, but sort of lizard like. I love the color and I think it would look great humming down the road with black soot filling the road behind it. Cosmos Blue- another color like Gecko green, but blue! The ladies love it. Maybe that's why my buddy's mom has a JKU that's cosmos... I don't know but I sure love it!

Just throwing around some colors with my fellow Cj-ers! Tell me what you guys think! Every opinion helps!:)

Yellow will go along with the engine color. Never cared for metal flake. Rod

I vote for silver because that color is not loud compared to others. Anyway, that's your jeep so choose the color that will make you happy.

Did ya'll know that silver is the most popular car color with white and black next. White would most likely be number one if the counted all the work trucks on the road. Rod

Silver is popular because white isn't that easy to find anymore. I like white, my last 3 vehicles were one type silver or another because that was the only color I could get without special ordering it. It's sort of like a model T. The number one most popular color for the model T was black. I find that strange in that you could get a model T in any color you wanted ..... as long as it was black.

So, are you making a show car or a CJ? If I were going for a show car I'd build a Wrangler. Show cars aren't expected to do any work for a living so a Wrangler (or any newer Jeep like product) would be perfect for that. But you are working on a true Jeep, a CJ is out of it's element when the mud and old gritty oil/grease/dirt is washed off. Get a little of each, get a dent, bang it ou slap on some paint, after all paint is only on a jeep to keep it from rusting ...... now that's my story and I'm sticking to it.......

It's going to be a Cj, as you described, just on steroids... Built-to-the-hilt Cummins 4bt, 5 speed on Dana60s. And I'm
Going to make it road legal. It will see it's fair share of trails and rocks, maybe a trip to Moab or Cali when the money comes in... But I will be a pavement princess untill all the bugs are worked out.. Once there out, ill be hitting the woods. But I was looking for a unique color to paint a Cj... Yellow is my favorite color, but so common, as well as orange and those colors... But like I said, something unique....

Advice .... If your four wheelin' with friends, run at the end of the line. Nobody likes to have black smoke blowing in their face all day long. Especially diesel smoke. I was once hunting elk with some former friends with a diesel Blazer ( I think it was a Blazer). Before we'd head out each morning he would warm the damned thing up, diesel smoke would hang in camp like a blanket. Everything stunk like diesel, I was well on my way toward hating them before they left to go home.

Sherwood green with orange and yellow stickers. It's a CJ, and let's face it, nothing is more unique than the original AMC paint with stickers. Everybody has garish bright modded CJ's now, you don't see many original looking ones.

One of the first things I did when I hot mine was to Google Image Jeeps. I saved all the ones I really liked. As I went back and looked at all of them together what stood out was bright standard colors with no strips or stickers. I guess I'm plain jane.......like vanilla ice cream too! Rod

If you're thinking silver, look over on Jeepforum at username "Project 23". He has a loooonnnng thread about the paint job, but it looks awesome. He did silver and had Phoenix Graphics do some OEMish stickers for it.

Looks good Pete. Nothing like it did the day you brought it home. :notworthy: Rod

Well I wanted an orange jeep, but I didn't want the same orange everyone else had floating around. If I can get around to it I will post some pics of the new painted jeep. I had some orange ppg paint that was I guess safety orange color that I just took silver and red and mixed it until I liked the way it looked and sprayed it on. Overall I'm extremely satisfied and its not your run of the mill orange. It's unique. JMO
