Like the title says, I’m new to Jeeps not mechanics. Always wanted a Jeep. Well I found a good deal on what I was told was a CJ5 . The guy gave me a title that says it’s a 1974. Has a fiberglass tub. He was in the middle of putting everything together and wanted out. So I picked it up cheep. The questions I have is what did I get so I can make sure everything is right and I can get right parts. Would like to add power steering and brakes and front disks.

There is plenty of web information, used and aftermarket parts out there to get it into good condition. I would suggest getting into a Jeep club to get you going and to help you figure out just what you want to do with the thing. I have had mine for 29 years, not as long as many people.

Sweet looks like you should have with that welcome aboard

You got into a whole lotta fun that’s what!

Welcome! Your pictures came out very small on a computer (and upside down), but looks good!

72-75 CJs are referred to as "intermediate" CJs and some parts are the same (or interchangeable) as 76+, while other parts are more like 71 and older.

If it's a c-channel frame, it's pre '76. Hopefully most all of the parts are there to put it back together. Looking forward to seeing the progress.

JEEP- Just Empty Every Pocket
LOL

I installed power steering on mine. Made a world of difference on driving manners. The toughest part to find is the pump mounting bracket. I found the entire pump/bracket assembly on ebay. I also bought a J10 gear box. I heard it's a bit easier to turn.
