Yes it is. The area has a lot of limestone and sandstone. There's lots of caves and sandstone arches there.
Thats what I thought.I googled your area,we were close last year to that area when we visited our grandson at Ft Knox.Beautiful area he took us north of Cincinnati

I found an old steering knob in a buried box. thought i'd try it on.
I'm not sure these are legal anymore.
Anyone else tried one?

I think the problem with the knob is that if you hit something off center and it jerks the wheel, it breaks your thumb, and if you run into something you catch the knob with your chest, face, whatever.
I don't believe they are a legal option anymore, but I could be wrong.

I replaced my Steering Gearbox, installed a high pressure / high volume power steering pump. I have a hydraulic winch and my ps pump would give out and make noises instead of pulling my winch. The high performance pump should help that. Also replaced all the belts and most of the hoses. Put it back together and the engine made a loud squeal when I started it. I knew it was a bad bearing but I had a new PS pump & my alternator was almost new. It turned out to be the water pump. So I drained the coolant (again!!!) and put in a new pump.
All this in preparation for a camping trip I will be taking this weekend. I am going into the mountains near Buena Vista Colorado.

Pulled the rear bumper-swing away tire carrier off, fabbed new angle brackets to mount to the frame and put 'er back on. The original kit came with two rather light weight brackets, and the rear cross member carried most of the weight. The outboard mounted spare and two full jerry cans of gas were just too much for it. Rock solid now.

Finally got the eng and tranny mounted

I took a 4 day camping trip into the mountains near St Elmo in central Colorado. I drove on the highways for 3 hours before I locked into 4 wheel drive. I then tried to take Tomichi pass but I was stopped by a snow drift at the top of the pass.

Two men with good shovels would have been able to shovel that drift faster than it took to drive around but all I had was a folding military shovel. I went back to the highway and around.
Once I got to my destination I checked out the trails. There were a lot of ATVs out so to avoid them I headed to the harder trails. My favorite was the Iron Chest Mine trail. At the lower elevations this trail was all boulders 1 to 4 feet across. That was a fun challenge.

Check out my tent. It's also a cot. It's perfect for camping in the mountains. I have such a hard time finding a place without rocks to put up a tent. Now I sleep comfortably over the rocks.

I was planning on taking Tin Cup Pass to get back but that 4x4 trail was also snow covered. It's the end of June and it's still winter in the mountains.
Oh well I still had fun.

Dave, you always have the best pics. I wonder what you see in the mirror? Eagles? LOL.

Last weekend Jet,& i tried to make it up Gunsight Pass, up the Gros Ventres, in Western Wyoming. Got scared about a half mile from the top, & turned around.
I took pics but when i download them it says "Too big". What's up with that?

Thanks Jet
As for your images that are too big to upload, try this link:

On the right side of the web page look for the "Image Resizer". Download that and then you can resize your images. After you install it just right click on any image or select lots of images. You will get a choice to resize your images. You can select large medium or small. It will make a smaller copy of your images.
Nice tool.
I often push my mirrors out of the way when I am on narrow trails.

Changed the oil, filter, plugs and fuel filter. Took the 83 CJ7 out on the town. Drove well except it stalled on me twice rolling up to a stop. I am thinking a vacuum leak somewhere, but still good to get it out on the road.

Thanks for the schooling Dave. Got it.
