If you are using an angle grinder to cut sheet metal you don't get any control once the cutting wheel goes through the metal.
What I do is first draw where you want to cut with a sharpie.
The first pass with the cutting wheel should just score the metal.
You need to make several passes, each time only cutting a little deeper into the metal. Remember once the cutting wheel breaks through it will be hard to control so you dont want it to break through until you already have the line cut almost all the way through everywhere you plan on cutting.

Pulled the front end apart to do brake pads/rotors/bearings/seals. P.O. Had boogered up the screws holding the hubs on and I broke one trying to de-booger it. Anyone out there wanting to throw a used Dodge external locking hub this way...:D

explains a lot. nobody can cut the line they want with a sawsall.
The weapon of last resort.

i would so go aftermarket, at least on the motor mounts. The are a trouble spot and with more power than ever came stock in a CJ...

i picked up the CORRECT passenger caliper today. will install later this evening after the little one goes to bed. mom gets mad when her almost 2 yr old gets greasy

My 27 year old son still talks about working on the old charger and the VW bug with me 25 years ago.

My wife figured me having to pick up my little girl (5) on my weekdays off would slow down the work on the jeep.. no sir, I found mechanics gloves in children sizes. She wrenches a little but like to organize my nut and bolt collection and sweep the shop, both save me very valuable jeep time. The one day We didnt work on the Jeep she almost cried.

On a side note Ive have finished my 1 of 2 build today. Well finished as much as I am going to do. It will be dropped off to my buddy who actually owns it after the paint dries. He will have a small list of things to finish up. Now it will be my turn to build my monster.

CJ7 stretched 10-20" Locked 44s with 4;88 gears 360/727/300 combo and 38' boggers. Im hoping for seating for 4 plus keeping the bed area the same size.. Ill need some place to put the propane tanks;)

I wire-brushed the rear drive shaft, washed it in alcohol, and undercoated with RUSTOLEUM 2X White. Next it gets 500 Degree Engine Paint in red, then clearcoat. Oughta glow in the dark!

I completed as much as I am going to do on my 1 of 2 build. It got loaded on the traier and taken away by its owner.

Then I drank the celebratory beer(s).:chug:

If your interested in making a new jeep buddy John may need some pointers down the road. Hes a really good guy!

I worked most of the day undoing PO's wiring mess in regards to having the correct wiring (WITH DIODES) for towing my CJ7 behind my motorhome this summer.

This process is really a PITA by itself, let alone undoing spaghetti from the PO. Nothing better than wiring way up under the tub near the tail lights and having 3 cups of last summer's mud fall down upon my face and arms...BUT I wouldn't have it any other way!:)

I finally painted the windshield frame and installed a side marker light on the pass rear, there used to be a tire carrier there, for years there was a hole with a light hanging out of it. Interesting thing, the screws for these rectangular turn signal/marker lights are a #10 with a #6 head. The local True value hardware actually had them. I was impressed.
Ordered the Spartan locker for the front axle.
