As a leather worker, I have to say those look absolutely phenomenal! I think you’ve just given me a new project to work on for my steel doors.

So what did I do this weekend? Well I finally got my freshly rebuilt. T 18 Transmission from Novak mounted up to my AMC 304 and the Dana 20 Tcase mounted up to that (Which required using a BFH to gently persuade the exhaust pipe to cooperate). Then I had to spend the next four hours fighting with the Crossmember. Everything you read says all you do is slide it back a set of holes and it will mount right up. But it’s my Jeep, so of course it wouldn’t be that easy. Every mounting hole was 1/4 - 1/2 inch too wide. It was almost like my entire frame was squeezed together slightly. Ended up having to take the welder to fill in all of the holes in the crossmember, and then drill new ones. Oh, and I had to do the same with the transmission mounting holes. And then of course, three of the six mounting bolts, stripped out due to 44 years of corrosion. Fortunately, I was able to drill and tap them all to a larger size. So after about six hours, total, I have the guts back in the jeep. Now I just have to get the twin stick shifter mounted, the new tunnel plate cut and mounted, and get new measurements for both driveshafts.

As someone who has been there and done that you will not be disappointed. They do so much to the body to assure it's as close to a direct drop as they can. Keep us updated and please document everything. Here is my body when it was delivered.

Luckily CJ They are only 3 hours from my house. I have a friend with a truck and a trailer who has already said he would drive up with me to pick it up. Jay said it should be there sometime in mid June. So it's going to be my Birthday present. Counting the days.
