Wife, youngest son & I went wheeling today.
Hackett Gulch trail, which is west of Colorado Springs. Nice trail and added bonus are 2 streams to fly fish for brookies and browns.
Escaped the heat too.
I've been working on fixing several issues related to neglect by the previous owner. The steering was vague to say the least. Worn steering shaft joints, worn steering box, and leaf spring bushings that let the axle move side to side.
It didn't help that the steering stabilizer mount sandwiched between the spring and the axle and kept the driver side spring pin from seating in the spring perch, so the axle wasn't even aligned properly.
I did ball joints, wheel bearings, and tie rod ends last month when I refurbished the axles.
It's a good opportunity to swap out the Rough Country springs for Skyjacker while I'm replacing bushings. There may be better springs than Skyjacker but anything is better than Rough Country. And they were on sale.
I have a different stabilizer on the way and took out the mount for the other one. So the axle is now exactly where it should be.
I still need to get a lot back together, but it's hot in the afternoon so progress is a little slow.
