Hey,
My names John, I'm 35 and have been Jeeping since my first CJ5 at 17. I used to hang out a lot at Jeeps Unlimited. I learned a lot over there in the past few years, and it was a great place to be, however, I lost interest in the forums for a while and when I came back it seems like everyone left. I have a hunch one of the newer members ran them all off. He was the kinda guy who knows it all and you'd better follow his advice or else! He even had jenius in his user name! So, anyway, I still hang out there once in a while, but it's really dead, so here I am. I'm ready to learn from some and help others. Oh, and I'm recently rebuilding my CJ from the ground up. It's got to be done by June for our family Jeep trip, so it's crunch time! Here's a pic.

Re: Howdy from Oregon

IF your talking about the jenius I think you are, he is a very respected member here too.
I have followed his advice (freely given and always on the money by the way) to upgrade my CJ many times. I still refer to his diagrams to this day while I am rebuilding my wiring.
So to come over here and disparage a guy that has spent his life learning, and freely share that knowledge with the masses really ain't cool.
But :ww: to the forums, we hope you enjoy it around here as well as JU.

Re: Howdy from Oregon

The guy has good info but yeah kinda of an <-BAD WORD-> at times.

Nice looking jeep, I miss working on mine but when it's 0 outside
I don't miss it that much, LOL

ROTFLMAO:laugh:

just goes to show you can run but you can't hide.:chug:
It would be so much easier to keep up with the gossip if people would use the same handle in all the forums.

well i dont care if the man is a hole or a smart A++ I come to jeep forums to learn not to make best friends...while i have met some cool guys it comes down to the same thing,,,getting my jeep running better. Jeephammer is a smarta++ at times but he sure knows how to make a cj run.....

I say we flame off!!
About the only rule that really makes this forum what it is is that we don't allow anybody to be abusive to another member.
Jeep hammer/junk yard jenius is a pretty sharp cookie and I have learned a lot from his pages and his philosophies.
It is very easy to sound abusive in text, especially if you are being sarcastic. so what is meant as cerebral humor becomes offensive.
I would like the boy from Oregon to be just as welcome as jeep hammer and just as well aware that if anybody wants to be abusive, and I think there are some that get off on that very thing, someone will speak to him and if need be he will be asked to hang some place else.

I think jeep hammer can stick up for himself.
now I'm gonna go have another cup of coffee and go to the junk yard, y'all have a good one.

Yea, it doesn't matter to me, I have same name on local club forum. On JF it's different but I joined that one in 08' and had not named my CJ yet.

BTW, don't know the guy, but Jeephammer responded to my very first post there and was right on the money.

Let me put my .2 in here. I wanted to upgrade my 1975 Jeep v8 ignition. I'm a member in about 4 fourms and posted questions in all of them. Jeephammer was the one that walked me through the whole thing and I could not be happier (TeamRush).

I clicked on find all his posts when I first got a response from him to see who I was dealing with before I started spending money, and found that yes, he can be rude at times, but I could also see that he knew his stuff.

I figured, hey, I'm the one here for free advice, so I was willing to do it on his terms. I go out of my way to be respectful to everyone on all the forums, and treated JeepHammer the same way I do everyone else, and he was never rude to me, and his advice worked perfectly. He was on almost every day, and promptly answered my PM's as well.

So, this is the internet, if you don't like someone, just ignore him. For me, I would not hesitate to "swallow my pride" for some good advice that works. In person, it is different, I expect respect back just as I give it, but on the internet, who cares as long as I achieve my goal of fixing my Jeep! :D

Jeep Hammer knows his stuff and is a good guy. I have used his suggestions over the past 3 yrs or so. Wish I found him before I started my work and not after I was complete.

I have read hundred is not thousands of his posts and he is usually right on. Reads well so he takes you in the right direction and his knowledge is tops and accurate. He helped me get from 18 mpg hwy to about 24 hwy mpg with a 78 CJ7 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l with header and weber.

TEAMRUSH or using the updated FORD DISTRiBUTOR TUNE UP parts from the mid 80's on our older jeeps is backwards compatible and is a GREAT UPGRADE. This is one of his best finds.... but the weak grounded ignition and Limited & smaller advance mechanical/centrifugal in the computer contolled jeeps, and a few other finding also need to be used.

Seems like Jeep CJ.com is a bit behind on a few of the addons to TeamRush.

The internet is a great resource.... but its also hard to fix a 30 yr old CJ with the use of the "keyboard" and maybe a pic or two. JeepHammer is good at reading your issues and gets to the correction info better than most jeep helpers, better than 99% of us.

So looks like there is agreement his ideas are good, sound, and work.... I have also seen this Jeep Helper, JeepHammer, attacked on hundreds of posts..... The reason I mention the attacks can influence the helper, user, the fourm and change your words.
