What front axle do i have?

I've owned this jeep for 5 years and I'm pretty sure my front axle is a Dana 30 . Recently I've been preparing to replace the ball joints and have been watching YouTube videos and noticed that my axle nuckle looks different. The nuts on the end of the ball joints face up not down. So, what am I dealing with?

On a '84 it should be a Dana 30 a pic of the cover would help. I will go out and look at mine and see if it looks like your pic.

Looks like a normal Dana 30 knuckle to me, would need to see a picture of the pumpkin to know for sure. Also howdy neighbor

These are my old 83 knuckles yours should be the same as mine

Okay, mines obviously a Dana 30 as I thought. Thanks to you all. One of the videos was bleepin jeep and he said it was a Dana 30 . Obviously it was a lot newer, from a TJ or an XJ. Here's the cover.

Wow, you're right around the corner. Yellow85 is in Ft Worth and a good friend of mine, also in Arlington, has a CJ8 . We should have DFW CJ rally.
