I need some help identifying what went in some holes in the rear quarter panels of my 73 CJ5 . They are approximately 1.5" diameter.

Is there wiring hidden back there for a reverse light setup, maybe?

CJ; Very possible but they are very symetrical and well executed.
This is the 73 with the AMC20 so who now what else the po's did over the last 38 years.
There is a homemade gas bomb tank under the driver’s seat.
mylittlecj5; 99% of the wiring has been torn out. The photos of these 72-76 jeeps I've seen, show the back-up lights above the tail/turn/stop light.

 your right, mine has them so far up I never see them...I actually had to go out and look at the back of my CJ to check! Eh, they don't work anyways (yet).

I would maybe guess someone put the ball style CB antenna mounts there?

Never seen a front clip done quite like that. Very neat.

You've got the backup and taillights right.

The extra holes were not stock.

Best to check the VIN plate number and see what year the body really is.

A AMC20 will have to have had the spring mounts moved beacuse the AMC20 came with the widened frame rails in the 76 CJ. Strange

When it warms up I'll do some more investigating. Too darn cold now.
