whats this coming from intake manifold (with PIC)

Im not sure what this steel pipe is. Dont see it in the manuals. Its cracked and may be leaking something onto my manfold which is causing smoke fromunder the hood.


Its a 78 CJ7 Inline 6

Any help appreciated.

Where does it go to from there? I dont remember seeing anything like that on my 81. My 78 CJ5 had a V-8 but it had a tube similar to that that operated the choke stat. From the pic it looks like you getting oil on the manifold back a little further.

It goes from the intake manifold to the choke to turn the choke off.

You can see mine in near the top of the picture and where it is connected.

Thanks, thats correct orgot to mention it goes into the side of the carb (back of carb nearest firewall).

Where can I get a replacement or do I just get someone to fabricate one.

Im pretty sure your going to have to fab that. Ive never seen one in a book andused would be in pretty close to the same condition by now. Your smoking problem looks to me like a leaky valve cover gasket ,drivers side behind the carb.
