What's up with the WRANGLER?

Peter you can be no fun at all sometimes. ;) might those have been CJ7 's. :) I miss the hisss and the passenger handle in the vacuum motor jeeps.

These were options available in the 80s. Hate to hurt you any furthe but your beloved CJ5 didnt end till '83 so some of those luxuries may have slipped in a few. :)

Again, what is this "A/C" you speak of?
My last Jeep had air, but I couldn't keep her running at a stop light if the a/c was on...

There were Cjs with A/C, intermittent wipers and cruise control to tell the truth. ;)
Cruise control? Really? I love cruise control for road trips...

Cruise control, isn't that a hand throttle..... True cruise control would be nice though.

True cruise control from the factory. Very rare but Ive seen them pop up once in awhile on Ebay.

Yep. I CJ8 buddy of mine pulled a factory Cruise control out of a Scrambler he picked up. It was pretty neat to look at. Very simple electronics. I believe it was an 83 that it came out of. He was thinking about selling it as he would never use it.

Any chance he may still have it?

Cruse and A/C are great would not own a DD without them.

I am all in favor of adding what ever options you want to your CJ and if you take long trips or your CJ is your DD I think cruse and air should be the top of the list.

The CJ is my vehicle of choice when running away from civilization.:D

I have never liked cruise control. Personally I prefer being in control. Time added getting my foot to the brake pedal is bad.

As for AC, I have not had it in my DD CJ8 or the previous YJ. Some days it sucks getting to the office a little sweaty, but I do OK in VA summers. Maybe someday I will look into a vintage air or stock AC unit. Who knows.

Why would you need Air you should have the top and doors off during the summer. ;)

I don't need a/c. I get excellent air flow with my Sun Roof & Rear Sliders :-)

Doors, yes. I don't ever take the top off though. Just looks too WEIRD on a Scrambler. Proportions don't work...

Hmm. I think mine looks pretty good! Don't worry. I did not take offense. I just used your comment as an excuse to go take a pic. I took my soft half top off the other day since we had a few rain free days. Going back on tomorrow. I use the half hard top in the winter.

There are a few places Id say keep the top on and go with A/C. The dessert sun can be pretty brutal.

Nope , the top of the Scrambler must come off. Asimple bikini top is all you need. Try it.

I love the 1/2 soft top look on a Scrambler. Never had one though. Do they fold up and down pretty easy?

I stand by my opinion of the topless Scrambler. No, just no, no, no...

Pete, the simple answer is no. If I take it off, it stays in the garage. It does not fold back and lay down like a full top does. I could throw the pieces in the bed, but not secured.
