I notice that people driving CJ's or older Wranglers usually tend to wave at me more than people in newer Jeeps do. Has anyone else noticed this? I wave at almost every Jeep that crosses my path. Heck sometimes I even turn around and follow them just to look at the mods they have (visible ones). It is the same way with motorcycles. Most will wave, but these people riding crotch rockets pay no mind. Maybe its just me.

I try to wave but most (not all) new Jeep owner are not Jeepers in heart. Lose the heart, lose the wave.

Also I am a crotch rocket (as you refer) rider and I used to wave to everyone but after twenty years, it gets tiring of not getting a wave back from Harley riders. I say Harley because I have notice most metric cruiser riders will wave to me. I stopped waving to cruiser in general unless they initiate it first.

Yes I wave to all CJs and to any Jeep that looks like its not just a street Jeep.:chug:

I ride a metric cruiser and I notice the guys on harleys act like they are stuck up too. Maybe I don't see you "crotch rockets" wave cuz you're going so fast! :)

I wave at all Jeeps, from the old 40's models to the new 86 models, and all Jeeps in between. To me a Jeep is a particular vehicle and not just any 4wd with a Jeep sticker on it, like it seems a lot of folks think nowadays. Jeep 1942-1986 R.I.P.

I generally flip them the bird cause it's usually someone I know :D

I saw a Jeep the other day that had all the "BLING" and 22's with spinners. I felt sorry for the poor Jeep. It will never see the dirt. I still waved though. I guess if I had my cap turned backward and had my seat leaned all the way back, maybe I would have gotten a wave back. Kinda hard to lean back in a CJ! LOL!

wave only if waved at
magazine Jeeps never wave

I have ALWAYS waved to every Jeep I pass.
I have noticed something however.....

From the time when my Jeep went down in December of 2010 to when I got it running again a year later, less Jeep people have been waving. And to be honest, its kinda pissing me off!! I'll be running around with my GF and she laughs when I dont get a wave in return... I just shake my head in disgust...

The jeep wave does seem to be dieing. I still wave to all of them but it's usually only the older or off-road jeeps that wave back.:(

All I know is that when I bought my Jeep two things immediately happened. People waved at me and it attracted teenage boys and middle aged men. My wife likes riding around with the top down because she thinks the guys are staring at her and not the Jeep. I haven't had the heart to tell her the truth. :)

 :notworthy: :chug:

I just got my first Jeep, 83 CJ, last year and I noticed that the Jeeps that the real off road rigs always give the wave or head nod. It caught me off guard at first, now I make it a point to gesture to other off roaders.

I can count on wave 98.7% of the time from CJ owners. Not so much from the later model crowd. Although, I like to think it's because their jealous they dont have an 8

I think the Jeep wave is just naturally dieing because there are so few Jeeps left anymore to keep it alive.

How did you come up with the 98.7% :D

I believe he used the square root and then carried the 2!:dunno:

85% of all statics are made up on the spot. Thistle3585 your killing me:laugh: My wife says to tell you "That OK boys, you just keep thinking that way";) Myself, I tend to wave at 86 and older jeeps. The newer jeeps are more like SUV than jeeps. (Jeep, DaimlerChrysler just doesn't understand) However, with the right mods they kick butt too.

I totally agree. And yet they get offended when you point that out to them. They truly don't understand.
And your right, I don't have anything else against them. They are just anOTHER 4x4 like the landcruiser, hummer, bronco, etc., that can go great with the right mods. I just don't believe they have the right to wear the Jeep badge. Chrysler bought the trademark for notoriety that had long been established and has since exploited it.
