When a Jeep passes you on the road.

I think its because the newer jeeps are barely even jeeps. 4 doors and longer than my F150...POS. Older jeep drivers always wave.

I also ride a rice rocket (not obnoxiously) and harley guys can LMB!! I think they are just mad because they paid 20k+ for a loud, slow, poor performing, unreliable piece or .

I believe you may be misinformed about Harley riders... we pay 20K+ for a bike because we can, and want to, I mean, why would that make us mad? It's loud because we've paid even more to make it that way..... Slow and poor performing is a matter of riding style, I have a couple buddies with bikes I'm pretty sure would stomp just about any "rice rocket" in a straight line, and if that's not your style, then I have a couple more buddies that have bikes that can carve up a canyon with the best of the ricers... and unreliable?? Maybe 20 years ago, I have another buddy with 160K on his bike and it's never been apart and still going strong, as a matter of fact, with the guys i ride with, most have 40-80K on their bikes, while my 6 yr old Road King only has about 16K, only for lack of time to ride it... you see, probably 90% of us Harley riders grew up on Kaws, Hondas, and Suzukis... the point is, we grew up.. I wave at everyone while on my bike, but I'm a friendly kind of guy..

I believe the new Jeeps are just as, if not more capable stock, out of the box as a comparable CJ.. That's just how technology rolls, but I also think that about 75% of people with a new Jeep are just yuppies, while the others are just as adventurous as a CJ owner, so watch out that you don't get your butt handed to you on the trail by one of "those guys" someday.. as that would be embarrasing ... That 25 % will be the ones waiving at you and your CJ, because they can appreciate where, what they're driving came from..

Overall, I think whomever came up with "the wave", pretty well has it spot on, and the 25 points my CJ gets off the top over the new Jeep guys, is respecting the nostalgia and history these bring to the table.. The Legendary Jeep..

I think Niedhogg is saying this.

Harley=American, trademarked sound, sometimes associated with Hell Angels and drugs. . Apple pie and the American way.

Rice Rocket=Foreign, tried to steal harleys sound. Always in a hurry to be cool and do wheelies down the highway as people wait to see them either get chased by the cops or eat shi*. Typical perp is a college kid wearing a back pack and always turning around looking for cops. Rarely able to determine max mileage on the odometer as they are wrecked by then . Sometimes on the way out of the dealership.


I apologize in advance to responsible riders. There is commonality in that they are both motorcycles and such, but mentality is usually different as noted on Jeep-CJ.

Jeep=American, but must have done something to customize if its newer, preferably they did the work. It's not really the company to me, although the older it gets, the more respectful, as any classic is.

Built not bought plays a part in all.

The CJ and MB tags were the only tags for the Jeep vehicle for over 40 years. Now Chrysler gives them names. So we have the Jeep CJ, or the Wrangler YJ, or the Wrangler TJ, or the Wrangler JK. Why did they feel the need to suddenly give it a name if it was the same vehicle? Because it wasn't.

And I guess using your logic, I can put a Jeep decal on my Dodge RAM p/u and call it a Jeep, since it's a Chrysler product too.

Wow, now theres a new one, willis huh. You really do like rewriting history don't you. Never ever, have I seen or heard that company referred to as Willis, as in "whatcu talkin' bout".
Please do tell us then the name of the Jeep CJ?? As I had said, please research the name "Jeep". Jeep IS the name given to this 1/4 ton 4x4 short wheel based vehicle. It wasn't given to a 4 door vehicle or one with a bed on the back. It was specifically given to the GPW's and MB's, of which the non military version was given the name CJ.

Do you ever wonder WHY some of those YJ parts are similar? Because when Chrysler bought the AMC company a year after they bought the trademark name, they by default also got all the remaining parts stock that AMC had left. If you ever did swap a yj tub out then you should know it's not a direct replacement tub. It's similar but still different. And I don't mean just a complete relocation of the gas cap hole or removing the tailgate and putting in a door. If it were a continuation of the same company then it would've been the same tub. Same with the engines. Once the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l 's were gone they switched to using 4.0 engines. The frames were different. The tranny was different. The tcase was different.Once supplies ran out they changed. AMC was done with CJ production by mid 1986. Chrysler bought the rights to the trademark in 1986. Chrysler didn't buy AMC till august of 87, but yet produced a Wrangler in 87. Gearing up for an automotive production year takes place the year prior to the new model years. This is why new models become available after October of the prior year. Therefore production of Wranglers took place a year before Chrysler even bought AMC. So it was a genuine Chrysler product from day 1.

So even wiki's pages don't jive. But if you go to the CJ2a history page, it says:

Gentlemen, time marches on, things change for better and for worse.. whenever I see a newer 2 wheel drive Jeep, I think to myself what's the point? But then, they've been making them that way, on occasion, for 40 some years. Car companies all have one thing in common, whether it was Willys, AMC, or Chrysler, they are all driven by the almighty dollar, and that's why there are different models under a main brand, and even though the mother company is Chrysler, it's still sold under the Jeep name.. who really cares anyway, as long as someone is still producing JEEPS, I mean, the Rubicon is an awesome offroad vehicle and I don't see how anyone can deny that Chrysler is still keeping true to the Jeep name...

I think when you start getting down to the bones of your ride, you're at the meet and greet, or the same gas station, shootin' the breeze.. Cj to CJ going down the road, everyone should be waving!

Sorry guys. Didn't mean to bash on new jeeps. I've got a modded FJ that wheels awesome.

Not sure what a KJ is but I just don't dig some of these four door jeeps I see around. I don't even know what they are. Not like a four door Rubicon size. They are the CJ style but they are four doors and stretched way the hell out.

I think the people that don't wave are oblivious; not trying to snob.
