Body where do these straps go?

Winter project was to find hardtop and steel doors. Ended up having to repaint the whole jeep. But were do these straps go to hold the doors from swinging wildly?

There are little posts that the straps loop onto. They mount just inside the door frame with 2 bolts through the bracket there that backs up to the lower door hinge.

Mine didn’t come with all that hardware so I had a couple of straps made and used some extra footman loops I had from a bikini top I bought and used them.

Thanks everyone. This is about what I thought was the way, but obviously I didn't get all the hardware with the used doors. I recognize the one strap Belizian showed from my own bikini top. I'll search the web for either the stud or footman loops.

The straps are called "door limiting straps" and the posts are called "door limiting strap pins". Normal footman loops mount the straps to the doors, while you need the "pins" on the inside of the tub, mounted to the lower door hinge backing bracket for the other end. The pins are readily available, in either black or chrome, brand new with mounting bolts.

I've seen people use a footman loop for both ends (door and body/bracket), but then it's a pain to remove the doors. With the correct pin on the inside (instead of a footman loop), the strap can just be popped off the pin when removing the door and the strap stays with the door (on the footman loop there). Here's a shot of a passenger side door with the strap (braided paracord in this example) bolted to the door with a footman loop and the other end slipped onto the pin inside the body.



Kentrol offers the pins with mounting screws part # 50549 (black) or # 30549 (chrome).

Here's a set of brackets if you need them, or you can make them pretty easy from some scrap you might have laying around. Just bend to the correct shape and drill/tap the mounting holes.

Are there limiting straps for soft doors?

You can use the same straps. Depends on the soft door though for how you attach them.

My Bestop 2-piece soft doors have a bolt for the lower hinge pin adjustment. I burned a hole through the strap with a hot awl and placed the bolt through the hole and retightened the nut over it. Has worked fine for a couple years now.

Limiting straps on the soft doors is a must. Takes just a whiff of a breeze and the door slams into the side view mirror... and you know what a pain realigning those can be, particularly the passenger side.
