Where to get tires?

Where to get tires?
It's pretty hard to find a decent treaded 33x12.5x15 that's under $200. I would have liked to get the BF Goodrich MT's but they discontinued them after all these years and I don't care for the tread on the replacement km2's. So I'm going with another set of Mastercraft Courser MT's Mastercraft Tires - Courser MT - I run their Courser CT's on my dd truck and the wife runs the AT's on her Expedition. I just wish they were an 8 ply tire.
I had a set of their OTD's on it for the past 10 years or so and I had no issues with them. I just bought a new spare last summer, which is their new version, the MT's, that has a slightly different tread. They were $205 each last September.
Here's the old with the new. Same size tire.

Wow thats a big difference in tires. I think of the duratecs as more of an all terrain tire where ltb has, "take me to the mud bog" all over it.

Agreed. The duratrac is an aggressive A/T. I guess it sits between the Wrangler A/T and the MT/R.

Those Swampers are more aggressive than Goodyear's most aggressive tire by a lot IMO. I wouldn't want them for a Jeep on the street, but that is just my .02. I don't go in the woods anywhere near enough to justify a tire like that.

well right know it came w/ 33s on 10" rim, too wide?....would like a more narrow tire and love the way the ltb looks. which is why i like the LTB, but may stick w/33s for fitment issue...dont know if the 34s will clear w/my lift? i think i need and 8" rim either way i go?

At the moment I have a set of 31x10.50 x 15 Goodrich A/Ts with about 300 miles on them. IMO the best street/all terrain tire there is. BUT I have the desire for something for those times I want to tow the cj some place and really rock or mud, the Swampers or the KM2s look like they are in the class of tire I am looking for.:D

yeh...i think the 34x10.5 would look sick....if they would fit

IMHO I think you would be ok with the LBT's on 8' wheels. That is if the 33's on 10" wheels aren't giving you any problems.
Just keep in mind they are not going to be very street friendly.

Sorry for the hijack Pete.

If I had a problem I wouldve banned you both.

Best price I got on the Baja MTZs was $1102 mounted and balanced. :(

Im looking into some Goodyer MTRs next. Hopefully they'll have the rebate to bring them down a little. I had thought about the Duretracs before , Im just not sure its enough "tire" for what I want. They have pretty good ratings everywhere I looked though :dunno:

Grabbing 5 Goodyear Mtrs this weekend. Found a good deal on 5 of them from a fellow Jeep club member. $700. 500 miles on them and the spare never touched the ground.:)

good deal to be sure.:D

did he tell you why he didn't like them??

He liked them plenty , bought the same tires in 35s so now the 33s were up for sale.

Very good deal man! I paid the same for 4 brand new ones mounted and balanced. I am going to pick up a first gen MTR that has never been used tomorrow as a spare. 700 for 5 is very nice. Congrats on the steal. :chug: Post up pics when you get them mounted.

I love the Firestone Destinations. I run the A/T on the wifes Cherokee and the M/T on my CJ. The M/Ts on mine need replacing and I will get another set they are 31-10.5-15 and I can run them as low as 7psi with out beadlocks and have never had one problem with them. The do great in snow, mud, rocks, in fact I have yet to find anything the don't do great in. And the are cheaper then the Goodyears and BFGs and many others.

too small? outstanding!!:D

the perfect reason.
