I'm thinking of swapping a AMC 304 /360 into my 85 CJ7 , I see a ;ot on the engines for sale but most of them are missing the accessory brackets, will the ones off my AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l work? I know this is a long shot.
In the back of my mind i thought maybe, there seems to be alot of engines out there for sale but most of them are stripped of the key components. Thanks csuengr.
One side of the frame mounts will work.. the other side has to be changed. Plus you will need the motor brackets. acessory brackets wont swap betqween the motors. I have a 360 and a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l at my shop and can verify that with some pics if you need em. The good news is that you can pull the acessories of almost any AMC 304 ,360,401 jeep and they will fit. Wagneers are a good place to find cheap engine parts. Also you will need the fly wheel or flex plate from the AMC 304 /360 you aer getting. A AMC 304 fly wheel wont work on a 360 and a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l fly wheel wont fit on either.
for motor mounts I would by an after market Heavy Duty mount from advance. MORE or brown dog. They are pricey new but use all 6 blot holes in the frame. Ive picked up a set for used for $100 and that covered all 4 peices.
