seriously, could you spellcheck that, and maybe add some punctuation so we can understand exactly what you are wanting, please?

Before you answer please only serious responses. I need info on this thing. Is it worth having or should i get it off? Its a Beaver winch and I can't find anything about it or parts for it. It works fine but it's welded to the frame and the frame was extened to fit it. I did not do that, it came that way. It's to big and in the way. Any info anyone has would help me make a decision on what to do. Thanks, remember only serious answers. I've included a photo, not on my jeep but the same make and I think the same model i am not sure.

Here. I fixed that awful run on sentence for you so people can understand what you are asking. Seriously.

Thats one ugly winch. Your jeep deserves better.:chug:
Thats as serious as I can get.

I only saw one Beaver winch, and it was back in the early 70's (I think) on a Rover or some foreign thing or another. I only remember seeing it used once ( I remember because it was pretty rare to see a winch back then) As I remember, It was very big, painfully slow, and drained the battery to the point the Rover stalled and had to be jump started. :D Never saw another one.

Here's what I came up with after a little google digging;

Beaver winches were started in 1977. It's a two-speed winch and was marketed with two selectable line speeds and had a manually operated lever controlled the gear change.

Line speeds also corresponded to a pull rating. Max is:
12,000 in low
6,000 pounds in high.

The company also offered a single speed 8,000-pound version.

About 1985 the 2-speed winch was being marketed by Tensen. In the 1990s, this winch became MegaWinch and then went out of business in '98.

I also read on a couple different sites that they were Austrailian made and may, or may not, have been standard issue on the front on either Land Rover 60's or 70's. But I couldn't find any definate info. Also, from what I've read, you're probably get more money out of it taking it to a decent scrap yard than you will trying to sell it.

God knows, I live by speel check. Sometimes I mess up a word so badly even spell check asks WTF??? :D

I wasnt trying to be a wise <-BAD WORD->. I seriously fixed it because it was hard to understand.

Yes I'd send her down the road. You usually need a winch in a bad situation. That is not the time you want it to fail. I saw a HF winch explode on a lite pull. You get what you pay for . . .

Maybe someone doing a restoration would like something like a Beaver.

Hell I'll take it!
It's old, it's ugly, it's me.
I like weird old :dung: like that, makes it interesting.
