50mph down the road and a 20mph crosswind made my drive yesterday very tense.
Add the fact that the highways in my area are not in the best condition it got down right scary at times.

I hear you. I made a trip last weekend and drove into a 30mph headwind/crosswind, when I would pass a Semi going the other way, I thought my hood was going to pop up. I didn't realize the hood could bounce like that, but it makes sense with the way the latches work. I stopped twice to check I had it hooded down right. :)

I guess it adds to the adventure of owning a CJ. Anyone can drive a regular box, but it takes someone especially demented to drive a CJ.

A 4 inch lift and over sized tires can have a lot to do with shifting your horizon.

my rig has the backlash-prone Ross Box and old-style linkage. add to that a lack of power steering and no power brakes, and I gotta pay lots of attention, especially while driving above about 40.

everything's tight and what little hasn't been replaced is in good shape, but it's still another breed of vehicle.
