Ooooh - Mmmmm, intermittent wipers...... (did that sound like Homer Simpson??)

Now for the stupid question..... what do I need to add int. wipers? Motor, switch, and module?

The wiper motor is the same with the exception of 4 wires coming out of it. There is the module that is the electrical control for the intermittent, and a different switch (also looks the same, but isn't). In the second picture the module is the black box near the bottom of the picture. It also has the harness attached to it that is unique too. I bought mine as a complete unit on eBay. It was only found it the late CJ's I think for a couple of years. (To me it looked like the 7th and 8th picture in your second group of pictures.)

WORD OF CAUTION HERE- Where the wiring harness goes near, the behind the dash steering colume brace. Sleeve that section of wiring in some type of hose to prevent the sharp edges on that brace wearing through the wire insulation and causing a 'short'.

You can also pull them from FSJ's of the same years and earlier.
Ford trucks of the same era had the units, but there is a wire or 2 you have to swap IIRC.

And for those not faint of heart, you can pull the module and it's connectors from XJ's and YJ's, do some splicing to the motor and switch wires and have intermittent wipers.

That's a big help as these CJ setups are becoming scarce. Some of you may wonder why this is important, here in Texas we get what we call the drizzly drips. :( It a cross between rain and fog. Intermittent wipers are a big help for this. :)

Pretty sure that the motors are the same (CJ). The box tells the motor what to do, on or off.

The YJ motor just has an extra wire in the motor connection that is a ground. Guess they thought gronding thru the CJ winsheild wasn't such a good idea after all.

Sweet - That's what I wanted to hear :chug:

Sorry I believe your wrong. The intermittent wiper system uses a four wire motor. The regular system uses a three wire motor.

So - worst case I'll need a new motor....... soon as I get done eating and get Home I'll step outside and see if I have a three wire or four wire motor.

Well, I'm looking at the 84-86 motors. Mine has 4 wires (standard two speed). Not familiar with the earlier years. Should have thought about that.
