SO, I bought a bright Green Jeep. She seems to be okay with that color. Underneath things I find lots of different colors, on the body there is a lot of white. Two colors of bright green are nearest the top two layers. Under the Jeep, under the BIG white potato chip flakes there is dark green paint. This old girl has been around the block.

So for kicks I pull the paint code number and do the "look it up" thing. Oh the things you can find out. The Vin tag showed a "600" paint code. Cool! But-But-But, oh my god the code shows the paint to be  man I think I'm going to be sick. :barf: My bright green Jeep, with possible choices showing white, dark green, two colors of bright green shows that factory paint gun Number 14 shot ..... Copper paint on my Jeep. Copper paint ..... ..... is that the awful darned near brown nothing paint I remember?

So, you might ask me, why do I really care? Well, the Jeep came with front fenders that don't belong. Again, why do I care? The replacement fender inners interfere with engine parts, to be exact, the air pump hits and hits hard. I have a set of real honest 1975 fenders that fit perfectly. After stripping several different colors off them and welding up 38 years of minor issues they are ready to paint. What color? Stock? Yes, I know this just might lead to a complete paint job.

Come on, be different! Stick with the bright green. You are less likely to get lost in the woods. Just stay away from the mall where you'll likely blend in. Rod

I personally like that brown copper metallic.

I like the modern copper paint, looks like a new penny. But I can't find a decent picture of a copper colored '75 Jeep and the paint swatches I've seen aren't nice in any way. Kind of a muddy brown ..... like paint that doesn't have the guts to be either true brown or true copper. I'll have to drop by the local automotive paint specialist to get a real look at the paint.

The green is nice though. It seems to make woman happy. Why I don’t really know, but several unsolicited comments have come from woman about the nice happy color of my jeep.

Hey Hedge, maybe it's just the age thing. When copper ages it gets a patina color, which is various shades of green!:D

 Ahhhh yeah Copper does turn green. Didn't say it was dipped in copper. ..... not a bad excuse to keep her green though.

Not sure about what you mean by modern copper but this is 80s Copper Brown Metallic. Vickis Laredo will be this color one day. :)

Nice, copper metalic ..... Mine is listed as Copper Poly, not sure what Poly means.

Well the doors do have that funny square shape and the tires are a bit small, I wonder why he would get rid of the dog.

Does that Jeep have CJ5 nerf bars? They sure are too small or are mounted too far forward or are they too shinny. .................. This thread has been brought to you by the word "too". ...................

Those are stock 7 roll bars and mounted correctly. They changed the roll bars in the 80s

If I could undo that I would.

I was just giving you a little :dung:. I have the aluminum rocker trim now. I wont use it cause my tub will be boatsided. Dont know if youd like that for the Laredo or not. Whenever you come down you can just go through what I have. :D

Not talking about the roll bar, I'm lookin' at the Nerf bars under the door. They look about 7" short, about the differance between a CJ7 with the unattractive doors and the CJ5 with the beautifully contoured doors. ............... hey I'm sorta' kidding about the doors, but the nerf bars do look short and to far forward. Since putting a set of nerf bars on my CJ5 that dispite what the ad said did not fit without considerable modification, I'm overly aware of nerf bars. Besides, how are they used as a step when they are forward like that.
