Build Thread Ziggy's CJ7 build
I shall check. I need to get a new battery anyway as the positive terminal is stripped.

So I checked the bulbs and it's not them. It seems I'm missing a fuse for the tail lights. I don't know what size it is as there's nothing there, not even any writing. I'll be looking around for the fuse sizes and see if I can find a thread.

I found a diagram on the webs. Couldn't find anything on the site so I figured I'd throw it up.

I thought it was number 9. But it looks like its 5 & 6. I'll be checking it tomorrow as its about 35 out right now.

Hmm. By that I should have a 20 in there but I just looked and mines a 25. Mustve been one of those "This will do" deals. :(

Well my tail lights work, it's the brake lights and reverse lights that don't work.

So after a week of constant rain and temps not getting above 45, I finally got out to the jeep.

Turns out that the new solenoid is :dung:. I have power going to it. I'll be putting the old solenoid back in and adding a push button start with a battery kill switch with key.

Checked all the fuses for the reverse lights and brake lights and those were all good. Still scratching my head about that one.

On a different note, I did take her out on the trails tonight through all that mud build up. Lots of fun. I'm not letting these things drag down the fun I can still have while I'm working on her.

I lost the brake lights just in time for the inspection. found a cracked fuse with a almost burned element up in the cap where it could not be seen. It even made 12V , just wouldn't carry enough current to light the lights.

I put a 15 back in.:D

Yeah, I'm gonna replace all the fuses tomorrow. Also, I only have one flasher fuse... I think that's what it is. That big round one on the top. I guess there's supposed to be two.

one of those is blinkers and one is flashers.

Well I have both blinkers and flashers...

Yup. Me too. You should see the wiring in this thing. It's a wonder it's running. Haha

Well, not the starter solenoid, as started in another thread. But it could just be a :dung: solenoid. Should I go with a Ford solenoid? I was told it would be better than the NAPA one I have I there now. And if so, what year?

Then after that, I really want to get that darn has gauge working. I have no idea what's wrong with it other than it don't work. I haven't dropped the tank or tried to get behind the dash at all.

SO MUCH WORK TO BE DONE!!!!

Hopefully tomorrow I'll be getting those locking lugs off and putting on new brakes. Can't wait for my brakes to actually work again. Haha

Welp, got it running. Seems that the mid 80's Ford solenoid will work better than the one meant for the jeep. Started right up when I turned the key. Doing the brakes tomorrow.

I also replaced some of the radiator hose as it looked like it was going the explode. There's one more piece on the under side that needs to be done, but that involves draining the radiator. That'll have to wait a little while.

Also added more oil as it seems to be burning it. I really need to take the engine apart...

So I put in that missing flasher that I mentioned somewhere... lol. Well, as soon as I put it in, no dash lights. Take it out and I have dash lights. Blinkers still work but no dash lights. Wife says she hates it, but I could care less. I don't go fast and none of the gauges work anyway. Well, the oil psi works just as well as the speedo, which is when it feels like it.

Anywho, things for this will be on the back burner for the next few weeks as we (the family) are getting ready for our summer vacations. I will be buying parts here and there, but nothing big (like the frame and tub) until at least September.

It's also time to get the bike and "show" car ready for the season.

Well so much for spending money on the car or bike this summer. The bike has been put back into storage. The state refuses to let me register it. They said I don't have a valid title. Seriously? I've had the bike for 4 years! Whatever.

Haven't taken the Jeep out in about a month. She's stuck in four wheel drive and won't budge. Honestly, that doesn't bother me that much as I do as little road driving as possible. Almost always on the trails. Hopefully I can get it unstuck tonight before I head out for the trails.

Also, I still can't figure out why the dashboard lights went out when I put the flasher in. Very strange. Then again there are a lot of stripped wires...
