That's normal. You'll see when you pull the ones out of the housing.

Well. My dang throw out bearing is making a growling noise. Just started this morning on a cold engine. :dung:! What the heck!

It must be feeling neglected.....

If it squeals like a girl. :D That could be your pilot bearing.
If it stops after a bit-My bet is the pilot bearing.;)

Did you mean throw out bearing after it stops?

Not a squeal. It's a growl type noise. Goes away as soon as the clutch is pushed in. It's also intermittent. Doesn't do it all the time.

Nope-I've had pilot bearings make these noises as well.;)
How much pedal freeplay do you have? Measure it-don't guess.

Hey. I just took the new axles out of the box. One is shorter than the other. What gives?

I hear you on the brakes.

On QuadraTrac equipped keeps the rear diff is off centered

Clutch feels good. I'm not sure on the free play but I just measured it not long ago. I had it set at an inch and a half of free play. It doesn't feel any different. I'll just have to pop the tranny back out when I get a chance. I know exactly what to do this time around since I just put a clutch in it not long ago.

The pilot bearing is in the flywheel, and supports the nose of the input shaft that the clutch friction plate sits on.

So here is another symptom. Sitting still, engine at idle, clutch pushed all the way down, fully disengaged, you can work the shifter into different gears and it goes.from no noise to that growl sound when you put it into a gear. Then taking it out of gear it goes away.

I still think it's the throw out bearing......

I just got done checking those last week or so, all good levels.

Just checked clutch pedal free play. Thought I had it at 1.5 inches but it's actually one inch.

Took it to dinner and piled in four people and it did.fine with no noise at all. I know it doesn't mean anything other than I'm still looking at pulling out the Transmission .

One other thing. I don't know if you remember but the clutch kit came with the wrong TOB. It takes a Ford TOB. Went back and got one. It wasn't the best quality. One of the tangs was a litle loose not bad but it still hooked in solid. Wonder if that clip is loosening up.

Last thing. I looked at the manual. It says something about an oil wick in the pilot bearing area. I don't rwmember seeing one when I took this apart for the first time. I know for a fact I didn't put one in. Where do you get one? I don't think it, no I know it doesn't have one.

Just cut a 3/4" square from an old t-shirt and put a few drops of engine oil on it. You want it damp with oil-NOT dripping. Then poke it in with a pencil to the back behind the bearing.
You did install the new pilot bearing-
1" play is minimum.
LG

Yes, I installed a new pilot bushing.

Yep I know 1" is the minimum. Think I should try to give it a little more free play? It wasn't doing this before I adjusted the pedal a few weeks ago. Can being at the minimum be as bad as being at the maximum? I can take it back out to 1.5" again. I think that's where I had it before.

I prefer minimum free play, to much free play and the clutch will not fully release and it will be hard to get in and out of gear, reverse seems to be the first one I have noticed hard to get out of gear.

Some pics of the new winch. I installed a cut off switch also.

What's up with the three breakers? All three would have to go at the same time to be effective. If one blows nothing happens. A good 50 amp stereo breaker would probably be better. I say 50 amp, check your manual to see what the actual amperage is?

This one is 100 amp, but they all look the same.
