So we finished up the install today. A header was also installed at the same time. Well, it doesn't feel all that powerful, when compared to my carter. The idle was set at 750, but it sometimes drops to 500 and wants to stall out. I expected a big power gain.

Here are a bunch of pictures.

Thanks. It is always good to have another set of eyes.

A couple of things that I noticed, you need to cap off the vacuum ports on your charcoal canister. Those may have something to do with your idle if you're leaking vacuum out of there. I can't tell from the pics, where is the other (smaller) vacuum line on your pcv valve going to?

Next thing is, what did you do with the other line that was connected to your stock fuel filter? That is a vapor return line and if not connected it will effect your idle and how your engine runs.

Here's a couple of pics for you, the two are vacuum routing diagrams, the first one I made, the second one is a little more detailed, I found it online. The last pic is off my engine, it gives you a good shot of the fuel filter, there is a single input and two outputs, th larger of the two goes to the carb, it needs to be on the bottom, and the smaller one needs to be the vapor return line back to the tank. The outputs need to be lined up one on top of the other like a over and under shotgun.

Hope these help :chug:

Your CTO ports are also all open. Check out the diagram as to linking it properly.

Thanks guys.

I can plug the two things on the canister. That is no problem.

What about that CTO thing? Are those just the two plugs on the intake?

I don't know what I am going to do about the fuel filter. I will check that out tomorrow too. Thanks.

I don't think the linkage you have set up will allow you WOT. (wide open throttle), you mite want to check this but it does not look like it will pull the lever back 90 deg.

Thanks guys. I will try to mess around with it on Monday.

Do any of you have detailed pics of where all the lines connect on your jeeps with a 2100? I have seen a few pictures, but I am still having a hard time seeing where everything goes. I just want to make sure I get it all on there correctly. The diagrams are awesome, but some of the vac lines I am still unsure of. Like where the return line to the tank is supposed to run. And that CTO thing. There is also a line, the light blue one, next to the fuel input on the front of the carb. Where is that on my carb? Is that supposed to be the bottom of the air cleaner?

I was able to go WOT with that bracket. I will check it out again though. Thanks. :chug:

Dude, see the link I posted above. It shows everything hooked up in close up pics.

I looked. I don't know if it is because you have a 2150, but your setup seems different. Like in post 59. I don't have an EGR. It is all gone. I also don't see that thermal switch thing. That is why I asked for more detailed pictures. My set-up looks much like the first diagram I think. I don't even see that CTO stuff on mine?

I only have two vacuum lines coming off my 2100. one is my vacuum advance and the other my crank case vent line. I like simplicity.

2100 and 2150 the same..well almost but basically the same. I took the carter off mine, so it should be the same other than you switched out the manifold. I would cap off anything that you can't get a vacuum line to match and any port that is left cap those off too.

x2

My charcoal canister exists but only has the tank vent running to it. No vac line.
Did you close the vac port hole for the choke?
It sound like vac issues. And if you fast throttle it up and down, and it bogs, You need to check your timing.
Setting a carb right is 75 percent dist timing! if your timing is off, you will fight your carb.

good luck.

I have been asked for some pics of my carb. so I thought I would post them for everyone to use.
I have ran quite a few 2100's.
These things will run ALMOST upside down.

My experience.

Run a thick fiber gasket under the carb. Many people do not do this anymore. It keeps the fuel in the float bowl from boiling.

I also had to re-jet to 44's from the 48's. I get my parts from Daytona Parts.
They specialize in carbs, and have been great to work with.

My timing is at 6 deg BTDC on factory dist that has nutter bi-pass.

I am running EGR. Not required. just haven't taken the time to plate it off.
My EGR is connected to one of the advance vac ports.

Dist is hooked to vac advance port on the side of the carb.

Next to the choke area is a tube, this is used for manifold air to set the choke. if you blow in this tube you will find air to come out a small hole on the bottom side of the carb. You need to use a tap and tap the hole to 8/32 and JB weld a screw into this hole.

AND make sure every hole or port is closed tight.

If you look at my throttle area. You will see a plunger mounted to it. this is used on the newer rigs (wagoneers) for cold weather/choke idle. I mounted it and connected it to a toggle as a High idle switch for when I am winching or jumping someone.

I blocked my choke port by using some quiksteel putty and stuffed it in the hole in the bottom of the carb.

Thanks for the pictures! That's awesome.
