Hey guys and gals, i need your help. I'm working an putting a chevy 350 from a 1990 suburban into my CJ5 . I have most of the wiring diagrams for the motor and the ecu. As such i have most of the wiring re-ran since some of the wiring got chewed up by mice. Where i'm running into trouble is trying to find a wiring diagram/pin out for the engine harness connector that goes on the firewall.

I've tried google for hours. And i have exhausted the search feature here and several other forums. I can find wiring diagrams that have the inside wiring, and the engine wiring. but none of them have a diagram for the that connector that goes in between the two. i need to figure out where the powers and grounds are applied so i can get the run signals to all of the right places so that i can kick the motor over the right way.

the 350 has the throttle body on it, if that will help in finding the right diagram. any help would be great folks. thanks in advance

What do you mean by "engine harness connector" on the firewall? The large bundle of wires that pass through the firewall inboard of the A/C box are not broken at the firewall. In other words there is no "connector". That pass through is just a plug that is molded onto the wire bundle. Just search for the pinout for a '7747 ECU, that is really all you need.

Also, check out "How to build a GM EFI system" by John Wilson / Customefis, lots of good info there.

The pinout I need is for the side of the wiring harness that plugs onto the drivers side fire wall. The one that has all the ignition neutral safety and those kind of imputs come from. I have the edu wiring diagram. But it doesnt have a diagram for the clip that is secured to the drivers side between the brake booster and the fender.

Ok, gotcha. I have never used any of that stuff because it isn't necessary to operate the ECU. I try to keep that stuff to a bare minimum. I eliminate the knock sensor / ESC, VSS, and EGR function for the same reason. I have used Bill Hamilton @ Hamilton Fuel Injection to burn my E-Proms with excellent results.

I left all of the sensors and such on the motor. So the harness is all intact. I'm mostly trying to find out which wires i have to hook into to get the ignition system going. Or if the harness needs any grounds or 12v signals from inside side of the clip. I plan to run the motor as is for right now. I might start thinning down on the systems after a while. But right now it's summer and i want to get the jeep up and running so i can go have some fun with it.
